SAILING NOTICE - OBSTRUCTION / HAZARD

Fallen Pillar

One of the pillars/Bollards amongst the moorings fell over and is now an under-water obstruction.

The Pillar is

  • Cast Iron or Steel
  • is laying on its side
  • Height: approx 2 metre at max
  • Length: approx 2 metres

PILLAR is located

  • Towards the L
  • Between yachts Crystal (large white Ketch) and Chimo (Red).
  • Approximate TRANSiT: If racing it lies between HUB and VERNON
  • Approximate TRANSiT: between  Slip and Irish ferry  quay.
  • GPS  Coordinates:  to follow


BOUYAGE

the club has  laid 4 marks  around the perimeter of the obstruction.


KEEPING CLEAR - OBSTRUCTION:

Particularly when racing in close-quarters, please ensure safety of all, your own boat; and if you see another sailing towards the obstruction; please shout and notify them 

 - they may unaware of the new danger.

NOTE  the  obstruction  lies  between   HUB and VERNON and  is regularly sailed-by at close-quarters.

PLANS

The club is reaching out to Dublin Port. 

It is understood the pillar belongs to them and they have responsibility for its care.

The club endeavours to  assist and coordinate with Dublin Port.
