Club house and boat rental
CY&BC is centrally located on the Clontarf Road (adjacent to public transport) and comprises a Club House with changing rooms, meeting/lecture rooms, a kitchen and bar and a yard front and back used for storing boats. A wooden shed at the rear of the club is used for storing engines and equipment and working on boat repairs. Space in the shed was lent to members who are amateur boat builders to build the first wooden IDRA14 dinghy in 40 years. Club members and sailors and boat builders from across the UK and Ireland supported the team over three years and it culminated in the launch of 'Wicked Sadie' to mark the 70th anniversary of the Club. The team and their work to keep the craft of wooden boat building alive featured on RTÉ's Nationwide and in local newspapers and sailing publications.
CY&BC is used year round with Club racing for all boats from May October and dinghies from October March. Not all members are boat owners with some members crewing for boat owners and others availing of the dinghy rental scheme making sailing accessible to all.
During 2020 a number of members came together while the club was closed to give the lounge and members bar a full refresh. This was a 60 day project. The Club now has a lovely new look to it which will be enjoyed by our members once we are able to re-open.
