Fireball

If speed is your thing then the Fireball class might just tickle your fancy. Light, quick and geared as a high-performance yet practical two-person sailing dinghy it's a bag load of fun to sail. Quite simply, as long as you can keep the boat upright, it will go faster and faster the stronger the wind!

It's a class with history, internationally and locally. The Fireball was conceived by British boat designer Peter Milne in 1962. Just over 50 years on, more than 15,000 Fireballs have been built and more than 500 Fireballs are regularly sailed in over 40 countries.

Our very own bunch of Clontarf adrenaline junkies have been sailing them for many years and the Club has a long history of Fireball sailing, dating back to the 1970's. Club racing is a healthy mix of intense competition and great camaraderie on a reasonable budget and with plenty of open events at local, national and even global level you can compete at any level. Clontarf Yacht & Boat Club is also proud to support national events and in 2007 and again in 2012, Clontarf Yacht & Boat Club hosted the Fireball Leinster championships.
