Exciting first regatta for Mermaid novices

The newly restored Mermaid no. 4 'Ferga' had an exciting first regatta with her novice crew last month in Skerries. A total of 26 Mermaids took part coming from hosts Skerries Yacht and Boat Club as well as Rush, Dun Laoghaire, Foynes and Clontarf. The novices were assisted by two experienced helms from Clontarf, Vice Commodore Aidan Cronin and Peter Reilly. The light winds didn't favour Ferga or her crew, a great effort was made by all. A group of CY&BC supporters joined the Mermaid crew for the prize giving event reminiscing about times past when the Mermaid Class was vibrant in Clontarf – maybe a return to those days is only just around the corner!
