Introduction to Sailing Course 2007
The next adult sailing course will run from:
Tuesday 22nd May to Saturday 26th May 2007.
The course fee is 250.-€ per person.
The sailing course is designed to give people who have little or no experience of sailing a feel as to what sailing is all about.
The Club Members volunteer to take people out in their boats as guests and we endeavour to get participants into as many different classes of boats as possible between dinghies and cruisers.
Participants get the opportunity to both crew and helm the various boats.
A barbecue will be held for all participants on the Saturday night.
The cost is €250 per person which includes the BBQ.
Should you wish to join the Club after the Course, a reduction is applied to the first year's subscription for those joining before end of June.
The format is generally that the first night is held ashore in the Club House and consists of a series of short talks on safety, some of the theory of sailing, and a demonstration of the rigging of sails on a boat and the various controls involved when sailing.
Advice will also be given on suitable clothing.
Other evenings - on the water for approx. 11/2 to 2 hours, followed by a short talk/lecture in the Clubhouse, soup and rolls provided as you come in off the water.
Start times will generally be 7.00pm with the exception of Saturday when a race will be held in which participants will crew - 6.00pm.
Personal flotation devices (buoyancy aids) are provided for all for the duration of the course.
