The Irish Stand Up Paddleboard Racing National Championships will be held in Dublin this weekend. Between 15-20 athletes have registered to take part in this weekends races. On Friday evening there will be 200m sprints in Grand Canal Basin from 19:30. On Saturday morning from 11 there will be a technical race on Dollymount Beach. This is an approximately 3-4km race course that involves several buoy turns and a beach sprint finish. The technical race is a short course that challenges competitors with their turning skills. On Sunday from 11am competitors will race the distance course. This is approx 15km and will test the endurance, stamina and speed of the athletes. The race will be run from the slip way opposite Clontarf Yacht and Boat Club. CY&BC member Orla Doogue will be taking part and we encourage everyone to come down and support these Orla and her fellow athletes as they battle it out to claim National Champion titles and earn a position on Team Ireland at the SUP World championships 2017 which will be held in Denmark this September.
