Mermaids return to CY&BC for Leinster Championship

The Mermaid Leinster Championship 2018 was held at Clontarf Yacht and Boat Club over the weekend of the 16th and 17th of June 2018.

It was great to see the return of this class to CY&BC for this regional event. A very good write-up of the weekend can be found on the Afloat magazine website, so please have a read of that article.

In brief, a total of 14 boats registered for the event on the first morning. The conditions on Saturday were trying, with gusts of 30+ knots but all prevailed and 3 races were completed. There were some capsizes and a broken mast but this didn't prevent all involved having a great time and enjoying the post sailing BBQ at the club; along with the local Ukulele group sing-along.

Sunday gave more favourable conditions for the final race. Clontarf entrant, "Ferga", also made an appearance; having played it safe on the Saturday with the crew watching from the shore.
